Dealer Resources
Every form a Utah dealer touches, explained in plain language — plus a licensing cost calculator, the exact-match checker, and the packet pre-check that keep applications out of the reject pile. Free to use, in English and Spanish.
Form finder
Type a form number or a word like "bond" or "consignment" — or filter by stage. Every link goes to the official state or federal source.
No forms match that search. Try a shorter word or a form number.
The state's own checklist for the entire application packet. Read it before anything else, then follow it line by line — it's the list MVED grades your packet against.
The dealer license application itself, filed with the $127 used-dealer fee once your course certificate, bond, and premises are ready.
The $75,000 surety bond form, executed by your bond agent and filed with your application. You pay a yearly premium, not the full amount — and the bond must never lapse while you operate.
The background-check release that goes with each fingerprint card. The state fee is $30 per person — a $20 background check plus a $10 Rapback subscription (UCA §41-3-205.5) — on top of whatever the place taking your prints charges.
The separate MVED license for sales staff — $61 new, $31 to renew or transfer, with the BCI fingerprint fee included. Owners and officers are covered by the dealer license; every salesperson you hire needs their own TC-303 before they sell a car.
Official form — tax.utah.gov →The auction "BID card" — $203 a year, required for the salvage lanes at Copart and IAA.
The one form for changing your licensed business after you're open: a new address, a name change, an off-site sale license ($26), or an additional place of business. Most dealers meet this one when they move.
Presented to every retail buyer before the sale is finalized — it puts the key terms of the deal in writing. Not required for auction sales or fleet transactions.
Official form — tax.utah.gov →The federal window form displayed on every used vehicle you offer for sale — AS IS or warranty terms, marked before the customer ever asks.
The federal mileage disclosure completed at every transfer of ownership — on the title itself (or the secure odometer power of attorney), not a separate download.
Filed within 15 days when a deal brings in more than $10,000 in cash or certain cash-like payments — including payments that are related across a single deal.
The disclosure required on every salvage or branded-title vehicle — and a copy has to be displayed in the lower passenger-side windshield of every branded car you have out for sale, not just handed over at closing.
Required before you list a vehicle you're selling on consignment for its owner — it fixes the charges in writing up front.
Official form — tax.utah.gov →Every licensed dealer files this, due within 10 days after the end of the reporting month. It can be filed online through the state's MVP system.
How your dealership orders the temporary permits you issue to buyers at delivery — they come in books of 25 for $331.
Official form — tax.utah.gov →The running log MVED expects you to keep of every temporary permit you issue.
Official form — tax.utah.gov →The VIN inspection certificate needed before certain vehicles — like out-of-state titles and rebuilt titles — can be titled in Utah.
Official form — tax.utah.gov →Your permanent business sign — at least 24 square feet, permanently attached, showing your licensed name. And if you charge a documentary service fee, a posted sign disclosing it is required too.
Tracking this last section by hand — every sale, every month, every year — is how deadlines slip. dealerpronto.com keeps the disclosures, deadlines, and monthly reports on track; course graduates get 30 days of Pro.
Fee calculator
State and filing fees, itemized for your situation. The three quote items — bond premium, insurance, city permits — go on top; get those quotes early.
Every partner, officer, and manager takes it.
Get quotes for these — not included in the total above
Estimates err on the side of the fee schedule as published — fees change, and your city sets its own. Every MVED license expires June 30 no matter when it's issued — fees aren't prorated. Confirm current amounts with MVED and your city before budgeting.
Exact-match checker
MVED matches your business name and address character for character across every document in your packet — "Ste 8" vs "#8" is a real rejection, not a nitpick. This tool exists because applications really do bounce over differences that small. Pick one exact format, then paste what each document actually shows.
Everything you type stays on this page — nothing is sent or stored anywhere. And a green check is your pre-check, not the state's decision — MVED makes the final call.
Checking your name before you commit? You can see for yourself first: run the name through the state's Business License Search (Motor Vehicle Portal → MVED) — it lists every licensed dealer's exact name, address, and status — and check the Name Availability check for entity-name conflicts. If anything comes back close, the TC-300 says to contact MVED (801-297-2600) before registering the name with Commerce — similarity is decided case by case, and that two-minute call happens before the name lands on your LLC, bond, and sign.
Packet pre-check
Every line below is a real bounce point from the state's own TC-300 checklist. Check a line only when it's truly done — one missing signature sends the whole packet back and starts the wait over.

Salvage lanes need your dealer license plus the BID card (TC-305).
Any Utah-licensed surety agent writes the TC-450 bond — get two or three quotes; the premium tracks your credit.
Ask about garage / dealer liability insurance in the same call — you'll need it, and it's tied to dealer-plate use.
Planning & zoning first — ask exactly which permits your lot needs (CUP, sign) before you sign anything.
The business license comes after your MVED license — most cities hold it until the state license exists.
