Yes. The whole course runs on your phone, and every unit exists fully in both English and Spanish, narrated in both. You can switch languages whenever you want, even in the middle of a unit, and your progress carries over.

A salesperson license is its own category under §41-3-201(2), and it’s held by the person, not the business. If you own the dealership or you’re a listed officer, the dealer license already covers you. No — Utah licenses your address as much as it licenses you. The location has to comply with local zoning, be devoted to vehicle sales, and have display space for at least three vehicles, a permanent enclosed building with an office that securely holds your records, fenced or marked boundaries, and a permanent sign of at least 24 square feet with your full licensed business name. A home doesn’t qualify, and an MVED officer inspects the place in person before any license issues. Full lot requirements.

The moment you complete the last unit, your certificate is issued instantly, and you download it on the spot. You'll include it with your dealer license application when you submit it to MVED — by mail or in person at their office — and we keep a permanent record in case they ever ask to verify it.

Yes. The course ends with a short final quiz. You need 80% to pass, with unlimited free retakes until you do. There is no separate state exam. Utah’s requirement is completing the full 480 minutes of instruction.

Yes. It’s 8 hours of instruction. Most people split it across a few evenings, but with a free day you can start in the morning and have your certificate before dinner.

There is no separate auction license in Utah, so there is no separate fee — auction access comes with the dealer license. For one owner, fixed fees start at about $266: $127 for the TC-301 application, $30 for fingerprints, $49 for the course, about $59 for an LLC, and about $1 for a photo. Add the TC-305 salvage vehicle buyer license at $203 a year if you plan to bid on salvage. The bond premium, insurance, plates, and your lot are real money on top. No. All you need is your name, an email, and a phone. Many people take the course before picking a lot; knowing the rules first saves money.

Submitting isn’t your open date — passing inspection is. An MVED officer inspects your location in person, typically 5 to 10 working days after your application is received, and the license does not issue until that inspection passes. If something fails, a re-inspection adds real weeks, so plan your lease, insurance, and inventory around the inspection clock rather than the submission date.
